can you block your number when sending a text

IOS 7 has a new characteristic which allows to completely block a number from calling and texting me.
I am curious if they go a message which says that they accept been blocked, or it just keeps on ringing when they call and no 1 answers?
What happens if they ship a text message? Do they become a reply saying: "y'all have been blocked" or merely cipher and silence?
How practise they know that their calls, voicemails and SMS's are not beingness seen by the receiver?
I am currently pissed off at someone and would prefer them to know that their messages are unwanted instead of them sending me letters thinking that I am reading them.

As well blocked my mom'due south iPhone and tried iMessage and it says "Delivered" even though I didn't get anything.

Practice the voicemails go through? I gauge that might be carrier dependent though...
You get a "Blocked messages" section in your voicemail where you tin can listen to information technology.

So, it seems that the blocking feature but does not permit them to call you lot... or you can just ignore the incoming call if y'all never utilize this feature.
She will never find out that her text bulletin to you: "honey, y'all are at present a father" has been blocked and you accept never received it.
This blocking characteristic should accept a few more sliders allowing for dissimilar options, such as "let information technology ring" or "tell the caller that he/she has been blocked", etc.

I hope that doesn't happen to me..
I wish I could block people that aren't on my contacts. I keep getting some number who keeps calling me.. I'll have to add it to my list to block.

Then, information technology seems that the blocking characteristic only does not allow them to call you... or you lot can just ignore the incoming telephone call if you lot never use this feature.
She volition never notice out that her text message to yous: "honey, y'all are now a begetter" has been blocked and you have never received it.
This blocking feature should have a few more sliders allowing for different options, such as "permit information technology band" or "tell the caller that he/she has been blocked", etc.
Allow it ring is non blocking it at all, so don't cake information technology then. If you block it then it's blocked and the calls shouldn't exist bothering y'all--that's the whole point. If you want to notify the person they are blocked, and so text/email/call them and tell them they are blocked. That'south really all there's to it.

I hold with OP. Lousy feature. If I cake someone, I want them to know they are blocked. I don't need them bold their texts have been delivered. That Volition DEFINITELY pb to bug. Here's a crude and quick example.
Young man and girlfriend intermission upward. Fellow blocks girlfriend. Girlfriend text boyfriend a week later on to tell him she is pregnant. Boyfriend doesn't get message. Girlfriend has a delivery receipt saying he did get bulletin. Young man doesn't know he is a father. Girlfriend assumes beau is a deadbeat.
Seems similar boyfriend needs to keep track of his niggling guys a bit amend...

I forgot texting was the only form of communication left these days. No worries Im certain when your served papers for kid support it volition not come via text message.
I welcome blocking. I regularly become calls for a actually nice local eatery to brand a reservation (one digit change in phone number), particularly from winter visitors. Existence able to block their calls - especially when they telephone call three or 4 times in a row - is a nice feature. I already had a contact named "rejected" with a silent ringtone, and I just add those restaurant callers to the rejected contact, and now they volition be blocked.

I agree with OP. Lousy feature. If I block someone, I desire them to know they are blocked. I don't demand them assuming their texts take been delivered. That Volition DEFINITELY pb to problems. Hither'southward a rough and quick example.
Swain and girlfriend intermission up. Boyfriend blocks girlfriend. Girlfriend text boyfriend a week later to tell him she is pregnant. Boyfriend doesn't get message. Girlfriend has a delivery receipt saying he did get message. Boyfriend doesn't know he is a father. Girlfriend assumes swain is a deadbeat.
This is why you should use phone call blocking for nuisances like telemarketers and prank callers, not for people who you don't want to speak with.
Besides it behaves like this to foreclose denial of service attacks. If the phone were to let the call band for instance, it'd tie up its ability to have calls while it did so. This would allow the caller, at no cost to himself because ringing isn't billed, to tie up your telephone basically indefinitely by just repeatedly calling it. The same for a spoken message of sorts, in many cases. The best manner technically to handle it is to hang upward immediately. (A blocked message could originate from the network without this problem, only this is a phone feature and not a network feature.)

I hope apple tree better it and expand its power, why can the call block not only answer without speaker and mic activation, so drop the call instantly?
Our Panasonic dwelling house phones accept a superb cake facility (express number of blocked numbers though) that if y'all block a number, it will ring once, then change to the dead line sound. Very good.
